Part of Georgetown’s Center for Global Health Science and Security, research in the Standley group focuses on interdisciplinary approaches for health systems strengthening, with an emphasis on preparing for, detecting, and controlling infectious diseases.
In our work, we encourage a One Health approach, by looking holistically at human, animal and environmental health, and recognizing the benefits of multisectoral collaboration. To this end, we are committed to supporting a diverse team of faculty, staff and students, with training and lived experience across different academic disciplines, geographical areas, and sectors.
Our projects focus on various aspects of prevention, detection and response to infectious disease threats, including operational and implementation research on enhancing One Health surveillance and laboratory systems, diagnostic approaches for detecting zoonotic and emerging pathogens, and public health emergency management.
